We are recording pieces of music performed by students in curriculum clubs.
On the cd there will be students performing from curriculum clubs.

Using studio and recording equipment you have to book the studio so you will be able to record songs and put on cd’s.
To mix my recordings I will book the studio also I will be able to mix songs in the studio to make the song better.
I will always be able to use the performing studio and record tracks and vbook a spot in the recording studio using a booking out form to get a chance to mix the recording.
Availability of performers;
I have been assigned to an extra-curricular club this means that I shall be recording during their designed practice times I will also fill out a time request form so that I can book out the technician.
Some reasons to why people may not reach their deadlines can be people not showing up, people with no equipment, not working and not being ready these can all be lead to time constants. So it means theres not enough time so the work is in complete.
Recording and mixing;
We have limited time so the instruments and computer might not be working also having a noisy environment/background which can distract you also someone might of recorded it badly (scratching noises) this can make the time badly which can make your work fail and go badly.
Assignment 2
Preparation meetings:
we started the project by having a planning meeting. at this meeting we discussed what our product would be, we also discused are target audience (such as people who listen to rock,classic,pop,country or any type of music) and who should record who (ukelele,string band, guitar ect) also when we would do the cd so we would know when everything would be finalised.
at the meeting it was decided that i would be responsible for recording and mixing the ukelele's club's song which was "jingle bells" the time it took to record the ukelele's club was around 40 minutes. and it took around 10 minuites to finalise and correct any mistakes during the mixing process.

my contribution to the creation on the cd was recording the ukelele club and mastering it. also
the amount of work that went into this project was huge, i couldnt have done it alone. being part of a team is imporatant because otherwise their wouldnt have been enough time or resources avaliable for me to complete it.

Monitor Progress of CD:
At this moment in time we are behind schedule because a lot of people did not show up to the practice recordings, this set us back a week and made it so that we did not have enough time recording and mastering. Also when we did record some failed to turn up on time which meant are cd didn't have as much time as expected. Also some people disturbed our recordings by walking in. Yet now we have recorded the pieces and are now in the mastering process. Although we are now in the mastering process. but we still have all the pieces to mater which is going to take time and may not be in ready in time.

What is promotion?
Promotion is the activity of publicizing a product, in a way that produces customers or attention to the product. Also we promote products so we gain publicity and persuades people to use the product.
Successful Promotion:
A successful promotion is something that is eye catching and makes you as a person want to use the product. In my opinion a successful promotion has to be bold and has to be promoted in popular places such as tv commercials and an advert. A way in which people know that their promotion is successful depends on whether people go to the destination or buy the product.
Music Industry Strategies:
The music industry currently promotes their artists using lots of multiple ways for example using social media such as Facebook, twitter and Instagram etc. this is a good way of promoting artists because most people use social and media, meaning its likely to come across it. Another way is using adverts and radio interviews, this is good promotion method because they will be played a lot meaning people will know about the artist and want to see them or hear them.
Why Doesn't all promotion succeed?
Not all promotion succeed because some promotional material can not be eye-catching or as persuasive as expected, which leads them to not become persuaded enough to do whatever the material is trying to promote. Another reason why all promotion doesn't work is that the promotion used has not been promoted as good as expected, meaning the promotional material has not been advertised enough for people to see it.

Letter to parents:
dear parents/guardians..
Its that festive time of the year again,why not come to our christmas concert? our christmas is full of amazing,talented performances,performed by our pupil and your kids.
in this christmas concert we will be selling tickets-which is £2.50 if your under 16 or £5.00 if your 16 or over. in this concert there will be many different performances such as single +duets,x band, ukulele club, ukelele orchestra,pop choir, wood wind, advanced singers,brass group,string group,steel pans ,guitar club and jazz band and many more entertaining acts.you should come to our concert because it will be a concert you will never forget!
also the dates of these concerts will be 17th and 18th of december at 7pm.this will be placed at shenfield high school in the school hall which is north of the school. you should also go to the concert and pick up a cd only £3.50 or 2 for £5.00 which is a very good deal and worth the money! preorder before their sold out! you should also come to our christmas concert because all the acts you see will be amazing and be played devine! also there and refreshments and drinks so you can sit and relax.

Planning the product:
We started the project by having a planning meeting.in this meeting we discussed the Christmas concert and the weeks leading toward it, scuh as the date of the concert and how we would arrange everything like who was going to sell cds ,who was going to record the material and who was going to do each group we each volounteered for a job. i volounteered for ukelele club we also had to to make a date for the test recording and actual recording.and made a plan on which dates we should start recording so we would know if we had enough time to mix the material. the deadlinne for this material to be completed was 10th of december, the reason for this deadline is because we had to send these cds to an external company so that they could burn them onto cds also to send them back to the school so we could sell them as a momento.
At the meeting it was decided that I would be responsible for the design of the cd cover,cd frount,the poster and recording ukelele club i decided to these tasks for the planning stage because i love designing and finalising,which was a perfect match for designing the cd frount,cd cover and christmas concert poster. i also decided to record ukelele club becasuse ukelele club is a very talented group of ukelele players,also they are very easy to record because their always on point. we also decided to promote are cd by making a advert promoting the chistmas concert and cd, this was probably my favourite role during the planning stage because it was easy to talk about and surprisingly a good radio advert what good a good response from the audience.
in our first planning meeting we decided the dates for the test runs and actual recordings,i showed up to the test run for ukelele club which i liked because it was a easy group to record becasue there all very talented and didnt have to do that many rehersals,before recording the real thing.i also took notes on how they was set up (microphones and chairs) i also turned up to the actual recording,which was reall amzing and easy as they was already ready to play and record. unfortunately when we played the recording back there was little mistakes such as not all in time and echos fortunutely we was able to change some of these problems.
Developing the product:
My contribution to the creation on the cd was recording ukelele club and mastering it. This was a main part of the cd because it was one of the most popular acts in the christmas concert cd, also promoting and advertising the cd,i promoted and advertised the cd by telling the audience about the cd, this reaally drawed in attention about the cd and made more people buy the cd which means there was more income.
The amount of work that went into this project was huge, I couldn’t have done it alone. Being part of a team is important because the amount of work intended to complete the project was astonishing,there was so much to be done such as designing the cd cover and cd front,also coming up with what the product will look like such as the case for the cd,the print, and trying to make a profit. this is all important that we was in a team because otherwise the amount of work that was intended wouldnt be finished and completed.
Promoting the product.
I created an initial design for the poster and cd, in a production meeting we voted for the best three. these bets three contained festive decoration like the shenfield logo, a present, and festive and cheerful colours (green,red and different colours.) i also contributed by making a advert for the christmas concert and cd, this was succesfull because the many people who listened to my radio advert said it was really good and very eyecatching that they even said that theyd go themselves.also this was succesful because it showed the people who would listen what the christmas concert is going to be like.
Overall:
If we were able to start again and plan the project from the start I would change how we advertise because there were many posters in certain areas and hardly anyone could see which made it harder for people to find out about the christmas concert. . I would also split the class into groups and have them work on small sequences so that it would be done quicker and done properly. furthermore i would also of given other jobs for the christmas concert because there was quite alot of people who just stood around and did nothing in the christmas concert.
If I were able to develop the project again I would of made sure the ukulele club rehearsed more before recording the whole thing. Because when we went to finalise the track it was very hard to change the timing. Also this caused lack of time to finish everything else on the track. because when we recorded it was too close to the end of the project so it made it harder to finalise becuase we only had a certain amount of time to finish it.
If I had more time to create promotional material I would request the schools social media promote it for us, we would promote this by getting thwe schools webpage,twitter,facebook ect and post that there will be a christmas concert soon. this will draw in loads of people because many people check shenfield high school webpage to see the dates for concerts,tournaments and just informartion about the school.Also i would make a letter to all the parents in the school that theres a christmas concert because many teachers enjoy these types of concerts because it will be a memory for when they get older.
The project generated a profit of £142.50 for the music department. This was much more than we originally budgeted for so I think it was a success. There were still 4 CDS left unsold. If I were able to do the project again I would of sold more when I started and promoted more such as doing more posters, telling more people and said on the stalls louder so more people would buy also beforre the concert started in would get soemoene to stand outside the school untill all the parents and carriers come and get those few people to guide them on where to go and say to but a christmas concert cd,this will make the project more succesful because it will make more people know that there is a cd.
